Aston Martin's brand new Valkyrie hypercar scored top gong, the Michelin Supercar Paddock Showstopper of the Festival at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The Michelin Supercar Paddock Showstopper award was presented to Darren Turner, Marek Reichman and the Aston Martin Valkyrie team by judges Jodie Kidd, legendary designer Frank Stephenson, Mr JWW and DriveTribe's Mike Fernie.

Valkyrie  was selected for cheer function over form, and  judges were loved the hypercar's fabulous road-going credentials, the striking aerodynamic design and utterly stunnign performance.

This is Aston Martin's first hypercar, bring to other-worldly, ethereal power. For a change, a car really lives up to the
hype. The 6.5-litre V12 hybrid has 1160 HP fitted into a 100% carbon fibre chassis and body weigh just over 1,000 kg and has a 1:1 power to weight ratio.

Design was a collaborative effort with Red Bull Racing's Adrian Newey, with F1 performance, downforce and handling. Valkyrie does the 0-62mph in 2.5 seconds, and on to 250mph.

Runners up were the Glickenhaus 004S and the Rimac Nevera.

James Glickenhaus described his car as "a road car born on the track." Judges admired the car's bespoke design, inside and out. Considering the vehicle's performance and rarity,  they though it a noble contender for Showstopper finalist.

The judges, like everyone who sees it, were stunned by the all-electric Rimac Nevera. The Croatian hypercar has a stellar 1914 HP and and even more stunning 0 to 100 kph of 1.97 seconds. Even more stunning is the 0 to 300 kph of 9.3 seconds. Each of the Nevera's wheels has its own electric motor, and adjusts torque individually for max fun.
