I mean, look at this official statement of Dos and Don'ts from the Western Australian Health Department.

Specifically:

I can hear the bs dribbling from Masky Mark's gob:

West Australians must understand that this is a fiendishly clever virus. If you dance at any event other than a wedding, you will be putting yourselves and your loved ones at risk.

I know you are all better than that. You have followed my orders - I mean, you have observed the rules that my - oh, fuck... THE government has put in place for your welfare. If you just continue to do that until I snag a seat in Canberra, there will be no problem.

All I ever get is mockery...

The people illegally celebrating New Year's Eve in The George Bar should have had a few gals dotted around in wedding dresses. It's all legit, copper! Bugger off!

Covid claimed a ministerial scalp shortly before Christmas when Roger Cook has departed the Health portfolio for Tourism. Whether he jumped or was pushed is not known, but my money would be on Not Pushed. WA's health system was in rough shape when Labor came to power in 2017. It still has the same problems now with ambulance ramping - plus, it's lost a few thousand experienced staff who refused the covid stab. Cook will find the Tourism much easier to cope with, mainly because we don't have any.

The new Health Minister is Amber Jade Sanderson and her CV inspires little confidence. Her first job in Perth was media advisor to Carmen Lawrence. AJS later served as assistant state secretary at United Voice before landing a seat in state parliament.

Media advisor, union official, parliamentarian.

Prior to becoming Health Minister Ms Sanderson held the Climate Action portfolio.

Not a lot of real world experience in all of that.

Masky chose his new Health Minister well. Sanderson makes the perfect fall girl; when she goes down he'll be safely distant from the wreckage, offering condolences.

He's smart, and he's stupid, but mostly he's cunning.
