We are often cautioned about setting our desires and ambitions - for fear that they will be realized.
More dangerous still is evoking them in others - for we have even less control of their actions than our own. If we make them desire something that will be harmful to us, there is no guarantee that they will not seek satisfaction - and we will be sorry.
You can reflect on this in many contexts - and examine your own behaviour to see whether you have been wise...or otherwise.
I have taken to covering myself when cleaning drains or replacing the oil in air compressors - it is best not to inflame the wrong sort of person. Likewise I never nail a sheaf of $ 20 bills to a pole and march with it through the shopping mall.
A moment's thought will prevent a lifetime of compressor oil.
