A lot of feminists protest and try to combat rape/rape culture by using slogans like "no means no" and "consent is mandatory" and "the length of my dress is not a yes". I used to be a part of this way of thinking, but then had a realization. Men don't rape women because they don't know what no means or what consent is. Men rape women because they don't CARE what do means or if they have consent. A 2 year old will understand the word "no". A dog will understand the word "no".

But you're trying to tell me grown men don't understand that word? Telling a rapist that "no means no" isn't going to stop him from raping women because he has no respect for their right to say no. Promoting this way of thinking only takes responsibility away from the rapist. instead, we need harsher punishment for rapists. We need to make examples out of them for the rest of men. If they won't listen to our words, then they will listen to our actions.
