It is telling that the WA State Government has strongly been promoting the WA Day celebrations at Burswood, but has failed to mention that there is also an event in Fremantle at the Fishing Boat Harbour and Bathers Beach on Monday. After all, WA Day, or Foundation Day, as it used to be called, is celebrating the arrival of the first settlers on June 1829, and that coincidentally happened at Bathers Bay right here in Fremantle and not at Burswood or in Perth.
Anyway, we know that the State Government, be that a Liberal or Labor one, does not give a rat's arse about Freo.
So this Monday there will be an event from 11am to 5pm in the Fishing Boat Harbour that celebrates our multiculturalism, with performers from Oceania, Europe, America. Don't miss the half hour Dreamtime performance by the Wadumbah group at 12 midday!
