Not only has Mini persisted with their circular centre LCD, the all-new Mini adds loads of extra function to the "MINI Interaction Unit".
"We are taking a massive leap into the digital world with the new MINI family and, in so doing, underscoring the charismatic heritage of the brand. The iconic central display in the new MINI family is round and will be filled with round content for the first time. I am convinced that the digital power of the new models will delight MINI customers around the world," says Stefanie Wurst, Head of the MINI brand.
The new technology is credited with providing the first round OLED display, and is based on MINI Operating System 9. The system has been "optimised" for touch control, finally. It uses an Android Open Source Project (AOSP) software stack, and gives the user 8 MINI Experience Modes.
Electric models get a range of generated sound effect, and the range gets a new cloud-based navigation system. All such systems use over-the-air-updates to connect to the world, which is a subscription service the user has to pay extra for once the free period expires.
