Yeah, OK. You've been reading detective novels a lot longer than I've been a private eye. You know my job better than me. I accept this.
But you coulda told me sooner. You coulda told me to look at the license plates of the Hyundais in the GoPro shots and see that they were consecutive numbers.
Yeah. Two number plates. Two white Hyundais. One belonging to M. de Rangé and one belonging to Mme. de Rangé. Both bought from John Hughes and both perfectly legal.
One of which was parked out the front of my office every time I was inside trying to get some sense out of Mme....
Yeah. No wonder she didn't want me to find her husband. He was in the second white SUV…making visits to the same people she visited…but not when she was there.
Who were they seeing? Friends? Lovers? Associates? I'll never know - the GoPro didn't see past the front gates of the rich or the screen doors of the poor. None of the video clips show faces at windows - just those two white Hyundais.
I got my suspicions. As far as other vehicles at the addresses go, you don't see cars that good in lousy suburbs or cars that bad in posh suburbs if the tenants match the real estate. Someone is taking in visitors for a purpose…
My only regret is I did not catch on quick enough. I would have figured out which Hyundai belonged to M. de Rangé and entered into a deal with him.
I'd have contracted for $ 50 a day - plus expenses - not to find his wife.
