Nothing quite gets my juices flowing like a movie that has me thinking long after I've finished watching it.
Today Hubbie and I finished watching Don't Worry Darling, the 2022 film that had more people talking about the cast's relationship statuses post-production, than it did possibly the actual plot.
Fascination with the cast yes, may have been the bait for watching this film, but it was the story that kept us going. And I remembered today how much I loved analysing movies.
I was analysing them and quite enjoying the task back when I was doing some uni courses... and that's when I realised that it wasn't quite as much of a task as I thought it would be.
Not all movies are for analysing. Some are very straight-forward, no plot twists, everything wrapped up in a neat little package at the end. This isn't reserved for only movies too. Take the finale of Sex and the City series, compare that to the ending of Angel: if you know, you know, the former gives you all the answers to your questions, the latter, almost NONE.
Series and movies that provide us with these open-ended endings give so much room for scope, thought, debate and discussion. I kinda love it. And I realised today how much I've missed it. I've already googled the Darling movie this afternoon, read a few reviews, had a good discussion with Hubbie over it, and messaged a friend who's watched it too.
Hopefully my future sees me watching more of these types of films that stimulate the mind.
Anyone need a film reviewer/critic?
