I just saw an advertisement/public service announcement (it certainly wasn't a commercial) on TV and it was sponsored by the Anti-Defamation League. Apparently the main message was that in the Hamas-Israel war, it was important to keep the facts straight. One of the facts we were to keep straight was that Hamas, in its opening salvo, "killed 1400 innocent civilians." The number 1400 was one of the numbers spread around by the news organizations in the early hours of the conflict but the official Israel Government body count was a bit over 1100. The government even posted a list of those killed. I saw a photo of that list. Someone had highlighted all of the names that began with a military rating, such as Sgt. or Maj. and just visually, it looked to be just under half of the names on the list were in the military. So, roughly half of those killed were military personnel, which we really should count as combatants, not "innocent civilians."
It is clear that no one involved in this conflict, directly or politically, can be trusted to provided facts or even get them straight. I am not a fan of Hamas and I never will be. I am also not a fan of Israel, at least not their government.
A pox on both their houses.
