I'm up late make that early on the 31st, just listening to some tunes and thought some of you out there might be gearing up for a party... either hosting or going to.
Every party needs good tunes. I wasn't always a stodgy old religious person. I used to like to party on New Year's too. My parents usually went up north to ski-related celebrations in Collingwood, ON. And my brothers and sisters were quite a bit older than me, so I generally had the house to myself.
Home Alone!
Watch out!
Ha ha.
I still like to live it up a bit but these days it's far more contemplative. Remember that old Talking Heads tune, "There's a party in my mind..." (?)
Well turns out that isn't necessarily solipsistic. I believe we can connect on some level in a mystical community. We only need to open ourselves up to get there. There's no ticket other than letting go of our limiting attitudes and beliefs.
So please join me in your own way. And if you like celebrating with music, as I do, Linux users should definitely check out this free app:
ShortWave - Click for full size
I realize not everyone has the time or desire to learn Linux. But it's really not that hard. It's gotten easier over the years. And the benefits far outweigh the costs.
Anyhow, if Linux is not your thing, you can still access the very same database that ShortWave draws from with Radio Browser. This is a great community-driven website that organizes online radio stations via different categories, to include popularity.
