And, besides that, he is a loser, a capital L loser.
I am speaking of Donald Trump, of course. He was convicted yet again of fraud and given a bill for over $350,000,000. This, with his other court-ordered payments, puts his jeopardy at close to half a billion dollars, which he actually doesn't have in cash, unless he sells off some of his real estate assets.
His claims of being a business genius are in tatters, as the list of law suits he has lost indicates he is "anything but" has gotten awfully long. One judge put it, rather than perfecting the art of the deal, Trump was perfecting the art of the steal. And the most recent judge has decided that the slaps on the wrist he was given before clearly are not getting him to mend his illegal ways, so the fines are in the nine figure range.
The most common suggestion of how Trump could dodge the repercussions, since he has to put up the funds even to file an appeal, is that he has many rich friends in Saudi Arabia, for whom a billion or two is no problem.
I hope he goes that route. Other than being disastrous politically (Do we want our president to be beholden to the Saudis when in office?) but that any such funds provided would have to be declared a "gift" for tax purposes and taxes paid on it. And Trump would have to admit he didn't have the funds, when he has claimed repeatedly he did.
Remember what Al Capone eventually got jailed for?
Mister Trump is, to resurrect an old saying, twisting . . . twisting slowly, slowly in the wind.
