Those who attended last week's Strata Insights event at The Ned in London were given a sneak peek at some of the most significant technological developments that will influence the events sector in 2024 and beyond.
Chris Vernon-Smith, Creative Director of On Event Production Co (a subsidiary of Strata), presented three major trends to an audience of experts in the event business, with the aim of assisting brands in achieving better outcomes through marketing and events in 2024.
Technology Trend No. 1: Customization
There are now chances to dynamically tailor content to people based on their environment and mood. There were two instances given.
3D audio beam formation, as in the case of the ABBA Voyage speakers, HOLOPLOT. This directs extremely focused sound toward a certain group of people or area. In a conference setting, the speaker might be instantly translated into a different language in various locations across the space.
Without requiring attendees to scan their badges or QR codes, facial recognition technologies can collect data about them in an inconspicuous manner. (In a completely opted-in closed environment, this can be GDPR compliant). Facial expressions can also be used to gauge audience involvement, so a speaker at an event could gauge the mood of the crowd by observing how the tech responds to them and adapting their delivery or energy level accordingly.
