I go through countless RSS stories every few hours, having amassed a considerable number of feeds over the years. So many that I need to use online RSS readers like Feedreader and Feedly because the sheer volume of my feeds crashes just about every desktop RSS Reader I've tried.
But still, it can get boring. To keep things fresh I need to try new approaches.
So today I thought I'd compare MS Copilot and Google Gemini in a hunt for stories on a specific topic. The keywords were simple enough:
"news story about czech corruption"
This seemed a good test because in the past it's been fairly difficult to find current stories about relatively obscure countries that don't hit our radar too often. Sure, my RSS will drag up grisly stories like that Russian professor who murdered his student lover and was caught on a public webcam disposing of her body parts in a river. But that was a while ago. For more current stories about the underbelly of unknown places, I thought I'd give AI a try.
To me, Copilot came out on top. I wanted links, not just summaries. And Gemini often balks at giving links. Turns out the following story also appears on MSN News with the same keywords but not on Google News.
