I enjoyed a dinner at a local tavern recently and reflected that it was not only the food and drink that pleased, but the circumstances as well. We went early in the evening…about 6:30…and had no problem securing a table. The bar and table service was quick and efficient and the dinner excellent. We were satisfied to leave after an hour and did not have to contend with a great noisy crowd. Yet the venue would have been a roarer later in the evening on a Friday night. And by the time the scrum started, the kitchen would have been chaos - and the food poorer for it.
